CycleOps Mag Indoor Bicycle Trainer Decide Now

I should say first that this is my first trainer so I have no real basis of comparison to other models/makes. This is just my experience with the Cycleops Mag Trainer. I have had this trainer for about 6 months now and use it regularly (about 5 days a week). It was easy to assemble and it is easy to attach my bike to it. The trainer is solid and stable even for me at over 200 lbs. I use it in the basement of our house with my ipod so I am not as sensitive to noise as if I was in an apartment, with the ipod I can't hear the trainer. I'm sure there are quieter models out there, but I can't say I've tried them. As may be typical for mag trainers the resistance is not the smoothest getting up to speed, but once you are riding at your work-out pace its fine.

The trainer has been great for me since it rained alot in the fall and spring and I was not able to ride outside many days. It's also very convenient to be able to train at night, when I probably would'nt go to the gym or ride outside. It was an essential tool in training for my first double century in March. We recently picked up the Mark III bike trailer and jogging stroller. We wanted a trailer so we could go riding as a family, and the fact that this converts between stroller and jogger without a special kit was an added bonus. The conversion is super simple: just flip out a different arm and snap in a quick-release wheel. Converts in just a couple minutes! Works great both ways. As a recreational triathlete, this is great as I can train two sports even while on parenting duty.

The unit is light, rolls well (even with 60+lb of kids in it), and has really exceeded my expectations to date. The interior is a little rough and tumble for the little ones, but neither kid has complained, and the sling seat holds them up off the bars perfectly well. There's plenty of room inside too, for a couple toys, extra water bottle, juice boxes for the little ones, and anything else you might want to stash.

I was especially pleased that I could get all the base features I was looking for (shocks would have been nice, but honestly, do we need those?) for under $300. I had some friends who recommended other great units, but all of them were well beyond my price point. This thing is definetely worth it. A great value!

Save TSG Black Wrist Guard

I'm a beginner skateboarder and i found that i often catch myself with my hands and recently, i hurt the bone at the bottom of my thumb. I've never used any other wrist guards and went with tsg for their reputation. these guards have two hard plastic pieces that protect the front and back of the wrist. the one on top has a really big bend that makes the two ends really poke into your hands- luckily it's removable. the other plastic is not uncomfortable and cannot be removed. the wristguards themselves are made really solidly with materials that look like they would last. the padding is pretty good. another thing is that the thumb holes are a little smaller than average (i bought the small one), but if not wrapped too tightly, it does not play a huge problem.

Lastly, the wristguards are not at all flexible and really force your wrist area to bend downwards a bit. this may be a problem because when i fall, i tend to bend my wrist the other direction so i that fall on my palm. i'm not sure whether the guards are built to protect such a fall, which seems to be a pretty common way to catch yourself when you do fall backwards. if anyone knows, please comment. thanksGet more detail about TSG Black Wrist Guard.

First the good point:
My 4-yo daughter loved it when she saw it. Very cute-"looking" bike, very girly-girly. Kids who love the whole Disney princess style of any product will like the appearance.

Sadly, that is where the good part ends.

The bike is a continual bag of frustration. I have a lot of cool tools and am relatively handy, but no matter how hard I tried I could not tighten hardware on this bike so that it would STAY tight. And, adjusting so the brakes would work was near impossible. And small parts were so cheaply made that 1 of them actually broke during building. After a week of use, so many parts of the bike were loose and flaky I took to a bike shop, where for $40 they tightened and tuned it up. And, the bike shop experts themselves told me this bike was "junk" and that it would never be satisfying.

Think it's fixed now? Nope. Within a few weeks the chain started coming off after less than an hour of use. I adjusted and tightened and put back out. Chain comes off again.

There is simply no way to tighten this so the chain doesn't come off again, and each time I try I am down for a 90-minute project that needs 2 adults.

So now, we have a bike that is only 4 months old that sits in the garage.

Lesson learned: you get what you pay for, and be wary of a $69 bike.

Total junk, and one very unhappy little girl.

I ordered the MXR pedals, but the shop was out so they sent me these upgraded ones instead for the same price (a great deal). Anyway, those are so much better than the half platform/half shimano clip pedals I had before to try being clipped some of the time - "Sunlite Bicycle Clipless" - (knock off the Shimano PD-M324 Clipless/Clip Pedals). They are so easy to pull out now that I am always clipped even for DH and technical sections, where I originally thought I would use platforms instead so I could easily bail out if needed.

It takes a few rides (maybe dozen +) for them to loosen up where it is really easy to get out (I still catapult at times, btu never had issue still being connected, unlike my other ones) and don't come undone unless I hit my foot on a trunk or something. To get in, you roll your foot forward or back until you hear a bit of metal, then press down. Pretty easy to get in. And they look so nice and minimalist !

So basically I was looking for some decent bar tape to wrap the bottom of my summer bars. I saw some Deda Elementi at my LBS but figured since I didn't really a ton of it I could go with something a little cheaper. So I ended up finding this SRAM tape, which I was definitely satisfied with. They send enough tape as well as some bar plugs and some black tape to finish your wrap. The plugs seem to work pretty well, I would recommend using a little of your own electrical tape to seal off the job-one tiny piece doesn't quite cut it. Cheapest Radio Flyer Twist Trike

I searched a long time for a "reasonable" price on this Twist Trike and finally found one so I purchased it for my Grandson. HE LOVES IT!

Initially there was a problem but both Amazon and Radio Flyer were eager to resolve the problem via an exchange or parts. I opted for the exchange and it was smooth and fast. Kudos to Amazon.

This is a great trike and the "Twist" optional riding positions are a neat idea allowing a child to ride at a younger age and continue riding at an older age by performing the "twist". Truly like 2 toys in one.

Be certain to register your purchase with Radio Flyer because they give you an extended warranty for doing so.

Read and heed the instructions and use caution when performing the "twist" procedure. Be sure not to apply any extra pressure to the release lever on the twist mechanism. There is a plastic bushing that can break with any extra pressure thus causing the connection to be loose causing the trike to wobble. According to Radio Flyer, you can not replace just the bushing (you could if you could get just that part) but must replace the whole twist mechanism to fix the problem. Personally I view this as a design (or part) flaw that could be easily remedied if Radio Flyer chose to do so by using a more durable bushing and or offering a more durable bushing as a replacement part instead of the entire mechanism (just my opinion)

Other than this one part I would rate the "Twist Trike" as very durable and well built. I would purchase this Twist Trike again for other children. I wish I would have had one as a kid.

I have owned a very similar Cateye model in the past that I really liked. So I thought that it was a no brainer to get the upgraded model for another bike.

The body of the light is a slight improvement with an easier to reach button and it seems to be a bit more weatherproof.

It is average in brightness. For those who ride alone at night, you might prefer something brighter. But for early mornings, especially when your with a group, it is bright enough.

However the strap Cateye switched to is flimsy and is hard to tighten down. After one ride I noticed it loose.

Furthermore, the end sticks out 3/4 inch. I prefer the tail light mounted vertically and you cannot do this if you mount it on one of the stays. So I had mounted it on my seat post. The end rubs up against my leg as I ride which is very annoying. The older model had a much more secure mount and did not stick out more than an 1/8 inch.

If Cateye goes back to the older mount then this would be a good tail light. i have owned a pair of the "street cuff" bike lock for many years with few problems. the main concern is that the barrel key is a 8 sided key which is a more complicated key system than the traditional 6 barrel ( six cuts on the key ) style. the key shows wear and tear to the point of complete metal failure. i have had to have the keys replaced 2 times in 5 years because of the wear and tear. being that this is an 8 sided barrel key the local key shop is unable to make a copy. i had to have master lock order the keys from me from beijing(!)

maintenance on the lock includes occasional use of a metal lubricant to keep dust and other particulates out of the mechanism which can cause the lock to be difficult to operate.

the new pair of "street cuffs" i ordered from amazon had a couple of cracks in the plastic casing, this being only a cosmetic problem i was willing to live with the slight imperfection. when i notified amazon of the not so perfect condition of the purchase i was given a $10. refund. i was very happy with the win-win resolution to this small complaint.

Through 35 years and multi-thousands of miles of road and mountain biking, I've owned five saddles -- two horribly uncomfortable seats, one good one that broke, two very nice ones still in use, and now this beautiful Brooks I've installed today on my commuter bike. I've just returned from a half hour spin, and I already know this saddle will be the best of my life.

Yes, it's as hard as ebony, but I know right now that its design ... form ... shape ... whatever that's called ... accomodates all of the shifts of weight and angles that a cyclist's behind requires while climbing, descending, and cruising. It seems to support and contain my precious bottom's motion while allowing a slick transition between positions.

I wouldn't head out on long ride on it tomorrow - I've been warned about riding a new Brooks - but my daily few miles will be painless, I know, and I suspect I'll be thinking about replacing my other two bikes' perfectly decent saddles with Brooks.

Why, oh why, did I wait so long to finally get a Brooks? I guess I was afraid of the initial break-in. Well, unless a rider's leaving tomorrow on a long, long ride, I know there's no need to fear a Brooks. Even then, I think it'd work out. A serious rider has a serious bottom.

Great pedals! Inexpensive. I like the sleek, aerodynamic look of this pedal. The picture looks like it has a bluish tint to it but it is actually chrome. I use Sidi Raiden shoes with these pedals. I'm still trying to get used to engaging and disengaging the cleats ( I think I have to buy special cleats to match Sidi shoes). But when engaged.... there is a sense of unmatched power with these pedals. No energy is wasted because your legs power the bike with every push as well as pull.

It takes some time getting used to if you are new to this type of pedal. Be very careful when slowing down or at "stall" speeds. One time, I disengaged my cleats but as my foot made its move towards the ground, the cleats accidentally re-engaged. I was already tilted to that side and took a bad spill. It's probably a good idea to wear knee pads at first when you are learning.
